Understanding LP Gains

LP (League Points) gains can be frustrating when they're inconsistent. Here's why you might be getting +15 LP instead of +20 LP per win.

The MMR-Rank Gap

Your LP gains are determined by the difference between your MMR and your current rank:

  • High LP gains (+20-30): Your MMR is higher than your rank
  • Normal LP gains (+17-20): Your MMR matches your rank
  • Low LP gains (+12-16): Your MMR is lower than your rank

Why Low LP Gains Happen

Several factors can cause low LP gains:

1. Loss Streaks

Consecutive losses tank your MMR faster than your visible rank drops, creating a gap.

2. Boosted Accounts

If you've been boosted or duo'd with much higher-ranked players, your rank might be inflated compared to your MMR.

3. Server Transfers

Transferring servers can sometimes cause MMR inconsistencies.

4. Season Start

At the beginning of each season, MMR distribution is volatile as the system recalibrates.

How to Fix Low LP Gains

The only real solution is to win more games consistently:

  • Maintain a 55%+ win rate over 20-30 games
  • Avoid duo queuing with players much lower than you
  • Focus on improving, not just winning
  • Take breaks between losses to avoid tilt

How Long Does It Take to Fix?

Typically, it takes 15-25 games of consistent winning to normalize your MMR. Be patient and focus on long-term improvement.
