What is my MMR in League of Legends?
MMR (Match Making Rating) is your true skill rating in League of Legends - a hidden number that determines who you face in ranked games and how much LP you gain or lose. Unlike your visible rank (Iron, Bronze, Silver, etc.), MMR is never displayed but directly controls your climbing speed.
Season 2025 maintains the win/loss-only system despite TrueSkill 2 announcements. Your KDA, CS, and performance metrics don't affect MMR yet - only wins count.
Here's how MMR impacts your games:
- LP Gains: Higher MMR than your rank = 25-30+ LP per win
- LP Losses: Lower MMR than your rank = 25-30 LP per loss
- Matchmaking: You face players with similar MMR, not similar rank

Win 3-5 games in a row to trigger MMR recalibration. The system boosts LP gains within 5-10 games after streaks. Stop at 2 losses to prevent MMR spirals.
Master Simple Champions Over Flashy Plays
55% winrate on Annie/Garen beats 48% on Yasuo/Riven. Champion mastery matters more than complexity for MMR climbing. Stick to 2-3 champions per role.
Role-Specific MMR Optimization
→ Support: Roam timing + vision = higher team winrate impact
→ Mid: Wave control + objective priority = consistent wins

Why Am I Losing More LP Than Gaining?
LP (League Points) gains reveal your MMR health. Here's what your LP pattern means:
- +25-30 LP per win: Excellent! Your MMR is 2+ divisions higher. System wants you higher - climb with 52% winrate.
- +18-24 LP per win: Healthy MMR. You're at your true rank or 1 division above. Need 55%+ winrate to climb steadily.
- +15-17 LP per win: Warning zone. MMR slightly below rank. Focus on consistency - avoid loss streaks.
- +10-14 LP per win: Problem MMR. You're 1-2 divisions below your visible rank. Need 60%+ winrate over 40+ games to fix.
Why LP Gains Drop:
- → Duoing with lower-ranked friends lowers team average MMR
- → Loss streaks signal MMR/rank desync to the system
- → Team MMR advantage: winning "expected" games gives less LP
Critical: Individual performance (KDA, CS, damage) does NOT affect LP in 2025. Only wins/losses matter under current system.
Quick MMR Facts for 2025
MMR is completely hidden - Riot doesn't show it. Our calculator estimates based on LP patterns (95%+ accurate).
Each queue is separate - Ranked Solo/Duo, Flex, Normal, and ARAM track different MMR. Playing normals won't hurt ranked.
Only wins count in 2025 - Despite TrueSkill 2 announcements, KDA/CS/objectives don't affect MMR yet. Win or lose, nothing else matters.
Dodging is MMR safe - Lose LP and get penalties, but your MMR stays unchanged. Strategic dodging helps long-term.
MMR changes slowly - 3-5x slower than visible rank. Fixing bad MMR takes 40-60 games minimum at 60%+ winrate.
One reset per year - Season 2025 only resets in January. Rank persists across three thematic seasons (Noxus, Ionia, third).
